SIN

Sin: Harmatia = missing the mark or target of God

Sin has become the biggest down fall of the Church. Because most Christians do not understand what the word 'sin' means, nor do they understand redemption. If you cannot understand sin, then how will you ever begin to understand redemption? Sin comes from the Greek word Hamartia; which means to miss the mark and not share in the prize. Every person born on the earth is born a sinner. Therefore, sin is not an action, but sin is something we are born into. We are born into a law that we cannot keep.

ROMANS 5 verses 12-14
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. 13 For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of Him that was to come.

ROMANS 3 verses 10-12 and 23-24
As it is written: 10 There is none righteous, no, not one; 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

1 JOHN 1 verses 8-10
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Therefore, in this Christian Walk we must first realize that we are all born into sin. that makes us sinners because of what Adam did. Therefore, we all deserved death, but the bible says, Jesus tasted death for every man. There are two very important scriptures we must look at:
1 JOHN 3 verses 4-5
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgressth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins; and in Him is no sin.

GALATIANS 2 verses 16-19
16 Knowing that a man is not justified (made righteous) by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified (made righteous) by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law, for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. 17 But, if while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. 18 For if I build again the things (the law) which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor (sinner). 19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

The bible said Jesus came to redeem us from the curses of the law, it also says, that once Jesus came we are no longer under the law (schoolmaster). The purpose of the law was not to save us, but to condemn us. By condemning us, it would now make us look for a Savior, which is Jesus Christ.
ROMANS 3 verses 19-20 Now we know that what things so ever the law says, it says to them who are under the law; that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20. Therefore by the deeds of the law, there shall no flesh be justified (made righteous) in His sight; for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

This is why the bible says, where there is no law, sin cannot be imputed. It also says, that before the law came, sin was in the world, but sin cannot be imputed when there is no law. Paul himself said when the law came, I died. He said, because I did not know to covet, until the law came and said not to covet. Jesus has taken the law of Moses out of the way and nailed it to His cross, and where there is no law, sin cannot be imputed. This is why Paul says, all things are lawful to me, but all things do not edify, all things are lawful to me, but I chose not to brought under power of any.
GALATIANS 5 verses 1-4
1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage (law of Moses = 10 commandments). 2 Behold I Paul say unto you, that if you be circumcised (put back under the old covenant of the law of Moses), Christ shall profit you nothing. 3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised(put back under the old covenant of the law of Moses) , that he is a debtor (now obligated to keep) to do the whole law. 4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law, you are fallen from grace.

Does this mean that we can just go about our life and just do what we want? "Absolutely not!" It means we now understand that we are bought with a price (the blood of Jesus) and we are not our own anymore. It means we can now present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is our reasonable service. It means now we can transform our minds to the things of God and not the things of this world. It means we can now serve God without distraction, if we fall short, if we miss the mark, we can get back up and say thank you, Jesus. And thus, continue on the path to our destiny knowing that Jesus Himself paid the price for sin, that we no longer have to feel unworthy because we fall short. "Thank you, Father God, for your Son Jesus!"

The bible says we are the children of Abraham through faith, it also says, what shall we say then, that our father Abraham has found pertaining to the flesh. Abraham believed God and God accounted it unto him for righteousness, we must believe God that Jesus took away our sins, and then God accounts us as righteous. Righteousness only comes through the redemptive blood of Jesus. Romans 10: 10 says, with the heart man believes unto righteousness.
ROMANS 4 verses 6-8
6 Even as David also describes the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputes righteousness without works, 7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven and whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

John 15 verse 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in His love.

1 John 3 verse 23; and this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

Galatians 5 verse 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Romans 13 verse 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Colossians 2 verse 14 having wiped out the law of commandments that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

If Jesus has taken the law out of the way, and since sin is transgression of the law. We cannot sin, because you cannot sin when there is no law to break! If we love another then we will fulfill all that God wants and please Him.

Finally; the new covenant says it all: Hebrews 10:16-18; This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord; I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them, then He adds, Their sins and their iniquities I will remember no more. Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.

If God is not remembering our sins any more, How can we be sinning!
